Madame Jam Mal

Mustard Seed Haiti wrote to say that they took Madame Jam Mal (the woman with the gangrenous leg) to the hospital for surgery but they wouldn't or couldn't do surgery because she was "stressed". We're emailing now to find out exactly what that means. Witchner and I have talked about what it must be like to be an older woman from the country and all of a sudden be faced with amputation. There are no social service systems in Haiti and no support system except perhaps one's family. In this case, her husband is blind and her grown son appeared disinterested. We will have to wait and see what happens.

The woman with the neck tumor is supposed to be seen tomorrow.
